Superficial Liposculpture for Total Body Contouring

  • Chapter
Superficial Liposculpture

Abstract

Superficial liposculpture1 is a combination of syringe liposculpture2,3 and superficial liposuction4 that is used to treat localized fat deposits (LFDs) in patients with flaccid skin, skin irregularities, depressions, cellulite, and liposuction sequelae. There is a difference between liposculpture and liposuction. Liposculpture is a technique that uses disposable syringes and fine cannulas to suction fat and, if needed, to perform immediate fat reinjection. Liposuction, on the other hand, is a technique that suctions fat through a tube using a pump attached to a cannula. We have performed superficial liposculpture on 164 patients ranging in age from 17 to 72 years, with an average age of 35 years. Our mean follow-up was 6 months; the longest was 2 years 6 months and the shortest 1 month.

The mind stretched by a new idea never returns to its original dimension. E. C. MCKENZIE
