Abstract

Until 1985 at Escola Paulista de Medicina in São Paulo, Brazil, the surgical treatment of CTEV was performed using the Codivilla incision.6 In October 1985, McKay visited São Paulo and introduced his theory and techniques for the treatment of clubfoot, including the Cincinnati approach described by Crawford et al.2 in 1982. Since that time, we have used this approach with Turco’s procedure.15,16 The goal of this paper is to report our experience with this approach in terms of visualization of the medial and posterolateral aspect of the foot and ankle, as well as to discuss the healing of the wound and its cosmetic appearance.
