Abstract
The skin consists of an outer epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis. It includes nerves, blood vessels, glands, and hair follicles. The numerous components of skin are responsible for its varied functions; these include protection from the external environment, inhibition of water loss, absorption and blockage of radiation, temperature regulation, sensory perception, and immunological surveillance.
