Abstract

The primary purpose of this chapter is to demonstrate procedures for testing the invariance of latent mean structures, or, stated differently, testing for differences in latent means. The analytic strategy here differs both conceptually and technically from the two previous applications related to invariance. A secondary aim of this chapter is to demonstrate the technique of testing for and with partial measurement invariance; thus far, we have not had occasion to apply this important procedure. (For details of the study related to this application, see Byrne, 1988a.)
