Abstract

Number theory has many connections with computer science. Some of them are touched upon in this chapter, namely the cost of arithmetic operations and the use of the Chinese remainder theorem, the cost of identifying primes and factoring into primes and the Public key code and, finally, a classical construction of pseudo-random numbers in which number theory plays a part.
