Abstract
As we have seen, the genetic composition of a population responds to both physical and biotic shifts in the environment. Ultimately these genetic changes bring about more profound phylogenetic changes, such as those briefly described in the first chapter. Zoogeography and evolution are opposite sides of the same coin, and the mechanics of natural selection explain their relationship.
