Background of Nonlinear Optics
The electromagnetic theory of light is implicit in the relationships, known as Maxwell’s equations, among associated electric and magnetic fields. The measures of these fields, termed intensities and inductions, are vector functions of space and time. Their physical significance is often a source of confusion.
