Abstract
In 1969 Westby reported shrinkage or disappearance of solitary renal cysts, after injection of an oil soluble contrast-medium, pantopaque ®. In the Ultrasonic Laboratory Gentofte Hospital we often diagnose renal cysts and simultaneously carry out an ultrasonically guided puncture to achieve material for cytological examination. It is always attempted to empty the cyst completely. In this report the results of injection of pantopaque shall be given in a series of 25 patients chosen at random with solitary renal cysts without tumor cells and with a size more than 3 cm in diameter.
