Pre- and Postoperative Echographic Investigation of Left Ventricular Function in Aortic Stenosis (AS)

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to serially evaluate non-invasively the results of surgery upon left ventricular function in children with significant AS. Six groups of patients were evaluated: aortic stenosis −36 (age 7–19 years), coarctation of the aorta 17 (age 2–17 years), patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) 8 (age 6 mos–13 years), valvar pulmonic stenosis (PS) 7 (age 2–9 years), tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) −16 (1–13 years) and ventricular septal defect (VSD) 7 (1–10 years).
