Abstract
In the introduction (1.1.) we pointed out that at present there is a great deal of interest in applying a systems approach for solving social, political and environmental problems. In order to describe these large-scale, complex, interactive systems, the systems approach makes use of models. Symbolical representations are used to describe these complex systems, so that conclusions regarding the effects of alternative system configurations can be drawn quickly and effectively. The process of constructing, of making models themselves, is also being more and more understood as a direct extension of scientific method [70].
