Abstract
Cholestyramine has an accepted place in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, acting as a non-absorbable bile acid sequestrant. Although it is effective and safe during long-term administration, its use has been complicated by gastro-intestinal side-effects and by the occasional development or aggravation of hypertriglyceridemia.
