Abstract
This chapter deals with the behavior of 10-month-old infants while they are away from their mothers for brief periods in a number of laboratory situations. Before presenting the results, I will set the background with a discussion of two general topics: first, the nature of separation and second, the relation between responses to brief separation and attachment.
