Abstract

Electrochemical reactions that involve the transfer of charge at an electrode/solution interface are examples of a general class of reactions referred to as heterogeneous processes. The kinetics of heterogeneous reactions are normally determined by a sequence of steps involving both transport through the solution (and sometimes the electrode) phase and the transfer of charge at the interface.
