Abstract
Peptides in the CNS are characterized by their (1) low overall concentrations, (2) high potency, (3) marked specificity, (4) both transmitter and hormonal-like properties, (5) content of potential transmitter candidates, and (6) apparent low rate of de novo synthesis in vitro.
