In the concluding section of Chapter Two a preliminary model was established, and its output compared with Hutterite data. Considering that the only specifically Hutterite input was a distribution of female age at marriage it is perhaps surprising that the fit of the model to known Hutterite data was no worse (see Figure 2.4.1.). No attempt was made to choose biological input distributions suspected to be similar to those operating in the Hutterite population. The results of that first simulation carry the warning that superficially pleasing output can be obtained through a fortunate but quite accidental combination of second-rate input data, and this chapter is presented as an answer to that warning.
