Abstract

A series of experiments have been performed to determine the nature of lesions that can be produced in the retina, choroid, and sclera by pulsed ultrasound of high average intensity. This investigation is carried out in conjunction with the continuous-wave experiments described in a separate abstract. The study employs insonification of anesthetized, albino rabbits with 9.8 MHz, focused ultrasound. Observational techniques include cine- and still-fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, and histological techniques.
