The Effect of Acute Alkalosis on Intrahepatic Oxygen Tension as Measured in Bile

  • G. M. Watkins

Abstract

An increase in the affinity of red cell hemoglobin for oxygen theoretically causes tissue hypoxia. Such theories have been recently reviewed by Harken (1), and are related to both basic and clinical research (2, 3). In addition, such changes have been related to actual patient care (Bowan and Fleming, 1972).
