Abstract

Cavinton is a new vincamine derivative with vasodilator effect on brain arteries (1–3). The pharmacokinetics and metabolism of the drug in rats were studied by using the tritiated compound (4–7), but little is known about the fate of Cavinton in the human body. Knowledge of the pharmacokinetics of a new drug, however, is desirable since it is essential both for a better understanding of its mechanism of action and for a rational treatment schedule.
