Abstract
At the present time we have at our disposal a large variety of experimental techniques for the characterization of solute species in solutions and the studies of their properties. Among these nuclear magnetic resonance of metallic nuclei is becoming an increasingly important probe of their behavior in solutions and, in particular, of very weak interactions of the respective ions with solvents, counterions, or complexing agents. This presentation will attempt to describe briefly some of the recent applications of alkali metal, magnesium-25, and silver-109 nmr measurements to the study of ions in solutions.
