Abstract

Today’s traffic manager bears little resemblance to the traditional concept of the industrial traffic manager as a specialist in rates and the complex administrative law surrounding transportation. To be sure, there are specialists in these areas who are quite frequently the backbone of large traffic departments, and in a sense they are the “scientists” of traffic management whose painstaking research and thorough knowledge make major advances possible.
