Abstract

The first descriptions of the Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) in Argentina date from 1957. Twenty-eight infants were diagnosed from 1957 to 1962 (1), with 13 deaths. At that time the complexity of the management of acute renal failure in small patients was only being discovered and there was no experience with dialytic procedures in infants.
