Abstract
This chapter offers complete coverage of the early literature of Ti-Nb superconductivity, but as a result of the burgeoning applicability of Ti-Nb alloys during the mid 1960’s, full coverage of the literature published after 1965–1966 is no longer possible or desirable. With regard to the post-1965 period, only key publications dealing with fundamental physical phenomena, metallurgical optimization of critical current density, and the most recent (through 1980–82) literature, have been selected for consideration. Many important developments in Ti-Nb superconductivity are also treated in a separate monograph intended as a companion to this book [Mon00.00] and Tables 1–27, 1–28, and 1–29 are further guides to the associated literature. In preparation for the writing, the literature was sorted into five categories which then gave rise to the following five parts of this chapter:
