Abstract
In the past several decades there has been a growing interest in applying the general principles and findings of cognitive development to the understanding of personality and personality development. Kohlberg may be the best known representative of this movement, the one who most systematically attempted to articulate a new theory of personality based on cognitive foundations (Kohlberg 1969); however, the other members form a long list, and their contribution is by now very substantial.
