Neurotensin and Bombesin

Abstract

Several years ago our group reviewed the literature on neuropeptides in the Handbook of Psychopharmacology (Prange et al., 1978). We bring this to the reader’s attention for two reasons. First, although the task was complex, it was accomplished with reasonable comprehensibility in a single article. At present, however, after an exponential growth, the number of reports concerned with neuropeptides has increased to the point where even a cursory consideration would far exceed the constraints of a single review. In fact, this entire volume is dedicated to that purpose. Second, when we wrote our earlier review, little was known about either NT* or BOM. † We consigned half a page to the former; we did not mention the latter.
