Abstract

We state the requirements of lattice gauge theories, remark that Manton’s action violates reflection positivity, mention the equivalence of Z4 and Z2 × Z2 theories and discuss how well the SU(3) gauge theory is approximated by taking nonabelian subgroups as a gauge group.
