Sm2+ Activated Mixed Fluorides: Synthesis and Fluorescence

Abstract

The intense red fluorescence of Sm2+ has been used in fluoride single crystals for laser applications (1). It seemed of interest to test this fluorescence in a series of polycristalline mixed fluorides to obtain new phosphors for lighting.
