Abstract
Fish meal is together with fish oil the end product of cooking pressing and drying of various types of fish. Because of the relatively low value of the end products, the fish meal industry is typically based on types of fish with limited markets for human consumption. In Norway fish production is thus mainly based on capelin, in Peru on anchoveta and in the United States on menhaden.
