Group Relaxation in the Treatment of Migraine a Multifactorial Approach

  • Chapter
Stress and Tension Control

Abstract

Migraine is a disorder of blood vessels and was described over 5,000 years ago. Its essential feature is vascular instability, especially of the arteries, arterioles and microcirculation of the head and neck (Wolff 1963). The causes, symptoms and trigger factors are varied, and the treatment described is also multifactorial. It is an attempt to treat the whole person in his environmental setting and to provide a self-help method which does not depend upon drugs.
