Domain Walls and the Commensurate Phase

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: NATO Advanced Study Institutes Series ((NSSB,volume 51))

Abstract

This article is, in a sense, a review of work to be done. Strange as this may sound, it seems that many techniques have been developed recently which hold great promise for a further understanding of the commensurate-incommensurate transition of adsorbed layers. It is the intent here to review these techniques, discuss the applications to surface layers, and report on progress, such as it is, with a critical eye to future potential.
