Abstract
This discussion begins from the premise that there is a web of interconnected health problems associated with urbanization. The purpose of this chapter is to set forth a partial explanation of those problems, especially as regards the less developed countries, and to suggest some strategies for their solution.
An earlier version of this chapter was presented by Paul I. Ahmed at the International Colloquium on Comparative Urbanization and Regionalization sponsored by the National Institutes of Public Management of Mexico, and the United States of America at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D. C., October 13, 1978. This paper represents the professional views of the authors and does not imply endorsement by the Office of International Health.
