Applications of Mass Spectrometry in the Pharmaceutical Industry

  • Chapter
Practical Mass Spectrometry

Abstract

Applications of mass spectrometry performed in the Merck research laboratories and which illustrate the use of techniques discussed in previous chapters are described here. The data presented were obtained by using the following instruments (Chapter 2):

  1. (i)

LKB 9000S low-resolution mass spectrometer equipped with a gas chromatographic inlet and a Systems Industries 150 data acquisition system,

  2. (ii)

LKB 9000 instrument with Varian 620i data system, and

  3. (iii)

AEI MS902 high-resolution mass spectrometer equipped with a gas chromatographic inlet and a modified AEI DS30 data system.
