The three papers in this section each treat individual and small-group behavior primarily within the context of small-scale built environments. As in earlier chapters, the common theme is the manner in which people regulate interactions with other people who may be known to them or whom they wish to keep from being known in a particular situation. Two of the papers also attempt to place such behavior in a larger theoretical framework.
