Calorimetric Response of Fossil Fuel Systems: Prospects and Problems

  • Chapter

Abstract

It Is now clear that world production of conventional fossil fuels (mainly oil and gas) will be declining by the end of the century. Energy demands for the future, therefore, will have to be met, at least partially by alternative fuel supplies. In this respect, the United States and many other parts of the world contain substantial resources of coals, oil shales and oil sands which can be profitably tapped.
