Abstract

Inertial systems take advantage of the weight, or mass, of a particle relative to that of the gas stream carrying it. Wet scrubbing systems, in contrast, utilize a scouring or turbulence to remove particles from a gas stream. A scrubbing action is primarily a function of particle geometry or physical dimension and not mass. An inertial system may be used in conjuction with a scrubber to facilitate the removal of moisture from the gas stream.
