Seismic Analysis of Thin Beds Aided by 3D Physical Model Experiments

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Acoustical Imaging ((ACIM,volume 14))

Abstract

In this paper a comprehensive treatment of the requirements for, and the merits of, physical scale modeling for seismic analysis of thin beds is given. Ample attention is paid to the experimental setup, model sizing and model materials. Spectral analysis and modeling together with ray-tracing modeling prove to be invaluable interpretation tools. Examples are presented for two seam layer models and a wedge model.
