Abstract
In previous chapters we have alluded to the controversy about the primacy of syntax or semantics in language comprehension. There are also controversies about the levels of interaction between semantics and lexical accessing as well as all other aspects of language understanding. In this chapter we will give a survey of the various theories and positions on semantics for natural languages.
