Abstract

Patients with bulky testicular cancer have a complete response (CR) rate from 20 to 50%.[1] The optimal timing of cytoreductive surgery has been an area of frequent debate. Data from Javadpour et al.,[1] based on a prospective randomized trial suggest that cyto-reductive surgery prior to chemotherapy is not indicated in patients with advanced testicular cancer. The question arises as to whether the optimal induction therapy should be nonintensive or intensive. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy of two different nonintensive chemotherapeutic regimens and to examine how pretreatment factors may affect complete remission rates, duration of remission, and survival.
