The Recursion Method and the Estimation of Local Densities of States
A technique is presented for terminating a continued fraction approximation to a local density of states. Results obtained by this method are compared with the results of a method due to Nex. It is found that the density of states and integrated quantities are more quickly convergent and that the moments of the density of states are preserved in the calculation, in contrast to what is found for the technique of Nex.
