Abstract

Research in the routine field of psychiatry makes it necessary to include psychiatrists in private practice. Epidemiologic studies have shown that a majority of psychiatric patients are treated as out-patients, that the future trend will see even more patients as out-patients, and that a considerable part of these patients will never become in-patients (Dilling & Weyerer 1978, Linden 1983).
