Abstract
Over the years, the word cancer has conjured images of death, pain, suffering and hopelessness. Because of this, the words ‘cancer’ and ‘rehabilitation’ rarely are used together. Dr. Charles Moore said, ‘While there are several chronic diseases more destructive to life than cancer, none is more feared’. Dr. William Boyd, a noted pathologist, wrote, ‘When we think of cancer in general terms, we are apt to consider it a process characterized by steady, remorseless and inexhorable progress in which the disease is all conquering…’.
