Abstract

A telecommunications system, like any piece of machinery, requires some form of interface between the user and the system. The user must be provided with some means of communicating with the system; he must have some means of controlling it and of monitoring its operation so that he may, if necessary, give other instructions. There must be some form of input and output between the user and the system.
