Abstract

Multiphoton ionization (MPI) and resonant ionization spectroscopy (RIS) are largely used as probes of molecular dissociation.1 In both techniques, ions and electrons are produced by ionizing atoms or molecules through a laser-induced absorption process and then collected by an electric field. The multiphoton excitation may or may not be resonant, depending on whether or not real intermediate levels are involved.
