Abstract
Developmental characteristics of age-typical behaviors have been investigated extensively in a number of altricial species during the past decade. These investigations have outlined (1) the proximal determinants of a behavior during a particular developmental period, (2) how these controls change as development progresses and perceptual domains are expanded, and (3) the bases of these changes.
