Part of the book series: Topics in Renal Medicine ((TIRM,volume 4))

Abstract

It is apparent from the previous chapters in this book, that prolonged dwell peritoneal dialysis has become a major component of end stage renal disease (ESRD) programs in many pediatric institutions. The introduction of CCPD in the last four years has provided a very satisfactory alternative to CAPD in those patients who are treated with home peritoneal dialysis as the primary form of dialytic therapy [1, 2]. It is the purpose of this chapter to compare and contrast the clinical and laboratory features of these two variants of prolonged dwell peritoneal dialysis in children.
