EDP and Traffic Management

Abstract

Today, some form of electronic data processing (EDP) is to be found in the traffic management operations of almost every company. A recent survey showed that 38 per cent of the firms questioned were using computers for traffic management functions, including bill of lading production, routing, rating, shipment tracing, carrier payment, private truck fleet and railcar routing and control. Fifty-nine per cent were using the computer for inventory control, warehouse pick lists and receiving.
