Evidence for Nonphononic Superconductivity in Nb3Ge

  • Chapter
Novel Superconductivity

Abstract

We present the results of a quantitative test to separate phononic from nonphononic contributions to the superconductivity in A15 Nb3Ge. The method proposed by V.Z. Kresin has been used. This method is based on analysis of heat capacity and tunneling α2F(ω) data and neutron scattering data. We obtained evidence that the superconductivity in Nb3Ge is substantially caused by a nonphononic mechanism. In contrast, our results suggest the superconducting state in Pb and V3Si is due to phonons.
