Abstract

The exact implementation of baryon number conservation is formulated in lattice gauge theory. The canonical partition function in the model with heavy quarks in the system is derived. A mean field analysis of SU(2) gauge theory is carried out within this formulation. This analysis can contribute to an understanding of the role of the baryon number conservation in lattice QCD thermodynamics.
