Three Dimensional Phase Diagram of Nonionic Surfactants : Effect of Salinity and Temperature

  • Chapter
Surfactants in Solution

Abstract

The three dimensional representation of the phase diagram has been determined which accounts for the evolution of the pseudo-ternary diagrams of the system [decane + C10EO6+ brine (Na2C03)] when the salt concentration increases at a given temperature. Because of the temperature-salinity equivalence, it can be extended to the case where the fourth variable is the temperature instead of the salt concentration. The role of the crystalline phase is also examined.
