The Sauk Sequence: Ediacarian—Lower Ordovician

  • Chapter
Regional Stratigraphy of North America

Abstract

This chapter initiates the discussion of Phanerozoic history and, simultaneously, sets the format for the remainder of the book. The chapter divisions will be based on the cratonic sequences of L. L. Sloss, which reflect natural stratigraphic breaks in response to waxing and waning of the epeiric seas which have characterized much of North America’s Paleozoic and Mesozoic history.
