The carbon dioxide laser is a precise cutting and vaporizing tool. Its beam can be mechanically directed and computer-monitored in three-dimensional space. Thus, it is applicable to the stereotactic method, especially for the precision resection of intracranial intraaxial neoplasms from neurologically important areas.
